There are many ways to celebrate Halloween, although the usual thing is to celebrate it with friends, that is why I thought it would be good to do an article about games that had a theme according to that night and that at the same time allowed more than one player at a time.

So in this article I am going to recommend 10 games (in no particular order and without limiting myself to any specific platform), but these will have to have a theme related to horror (in any of its many forms) and they must be able to be played in cooperative mode, without the need to play online (which is why we have met with our friends).

1-The Real Ghostbusters (Arcade)

I'm going to start with a relatively unknown game, despite starring such famous characters as the Ghostbusters. In The Real Ghostbusters For Arcade, up to 3 heroes can participate in this adventure where we have to eliminate a lot of enemies using our proton cannons.

This game is quite fun at first, although it can become somewhat monotonous if you play alone, which is why it is much more advisable to do it in company, plus you can cross the rays to make a super beam that destroys the enemies!

2- Night Slashers (Arcade)

There are many recommendable beat'em ups, but if we focus on the monstrous theme the list is quite reduced, although there are still excellent recommendations, such as Night Slashers.

It is true that the game itself is the same as always (beat'em up, with special attacks and the usual three typical characters - light, heavy and medium -), however, the fact of embracing the horror theme, with bloody enemies, scenarios full of macabre details and some details to give it a disturbing atmosphere, make this game a great pastime to be played accompanied by friends (the game allows up to 3 players).

3- Zombies ate my Neighbors (Super Nintendo – Mega Drive)

I'm pretty sure that many of you will know this classic game, which appeared for 16-bit consoles from Lucas Arts.

The proposal is very simple, we control a character who has to eliminate hordes of enemies using somewhat improvised weapons (water guns, soda cans, apples, plates... everything) to try to save the poor people who are lost around the stage, at the mercy of falling prey to zombies, crazy people, murderous dolls, mummies... everything (the game is not afraid to parody many icons of horror cinema).

Complete Zombies Ate My Neighbors It is a titanic task, both because of its length (more than 50 levels) and its difficulty, but it is still worth playing with a friend and trying to see how far you can go.

4 – Ghoul Patrol (Super Nintendo)

Shortly after Zombies Ate My Neighbors, appeared Ghoul Patrol, which despite the name change, is a direct sequel, although at first it may not seem like it due to the graphic and playable change.

This time the theme seems to focus more on witchcraft and other supernatural experiences, but deep down it is still what we already know, an action game where hundreds of enemies come for our blood, so it is better that there are two heroes in action to alleviate the damage.

5- Monster Madness (Xbox 360 – PlayStation 3)

Up to four players can participate in this game, which is to some extent an heir to what was seen in the previous two games. We will control our character in a world full of enemies, where we can get various different weapons and every time we complete certain phases a final boss appears to confront us.

Playing with friends can be somewhat confusing, but it will also help us alleviate the fact that the controls are not as reliable as they should be.

6- Monster in my pocket (NES)

The collectible figurines of Monster in My Pocket They were so successful that they opened the door to non-toy products such as comics, t-shirts and of course a video game, which fortunately fell into the hands of Konami.

The protagonists are the Vampire and Frankenstein's monster and their mission is to stop the other Monsters in My Pocket who, for some reason, want to kill them. The beauty of this game is that all the characters are tiny in size, so the settings are quite original.

7- A Nightmare on Elm Street (NES)

Movie games may not be particularly good on the old NES, but in this case we find a fairly original title that allows up to four players and for that reason alone, I think it's worth playing a few games.

Our heroes will have to explore the houses on Elm Street in search of the remains of Freddy Krueger in order to confront him and eliminate him once and for all, but do not think that their mission will be easy, because as they advance they will inevitably fall into the world of dreams, which is exactly Krueger's territory.

8- Devil World (NES)

10 cooperative games for Halloween

This game was developed by Nintendo, but since it only came out in Japan (and much later in Europe) it's pretty forgotten, so I'm glad to be able to add it to this list.

Imagine a game like Pac-Man for two players, where a demon is dedicated to moving the screen (trying to make the scroll kill us) and our protagonists have to defend themselves using crucifixes and bibles to shoot fireballs. I guess now you understand why it was never released in America, right?

9- Zombie Revenge (Arcade, Dreamcast)

The beat'em up genre may not have had its best moment when three dimensions arrived, but there are still some games of that style that can give us a good time, being Zombie Revengand one of them.

Here our heroes find themselves in a world full of zombies (and other strange monsters) and have to survive with blows and shots. This game started out as a spin-off of The House of the Dead, although the idea was finally modified to make it an independent game (although it still has many references to that saga).

10- House of the Dead 2 (Arcade, Dreamcast, Wii…)
