Friends of the joystick and addicts of stardust: if you thought thatEverspace 2he had already given his all with hisDLCtitans(that one with space whales and pirate battleships), get ready for Rockfish Games to blow up your sublight engines.Wrath of the AncientsIt is not just any expansion. It is the definitive love letter to those of us who have been dreaming of aFreespace 3that never arrived, but with loot, customization and a soundtrack that seems to be composed by Hans Zimmer in a night of creative ecstasy.
Imagine this: after saving the DMZ from chaos in the base game, theAncient(those cosmic entities that look like gods with superiority syndrome) wake up from their millennia-long nap and decide that humanity is a failed experiment. Result:entire systems wiped off the map, factions on the brink of war and you, a clone with more lives than a stray cat, caught in the eye of the hurricane again.
Gameplay: When your Ship is a Spicy Taco (and the Okkar is Tequila)
The first thing you notice when you enterWrath of the Ancientsthe thing isRockfish has learned from its mistakes. Yes intitansSome of us complained that the content was short for its price, here the move is masterful:4 new star systems(with its maps full of side missions, puzzles and secrets!), a8-10 hour postgame campaignand the best:a PLAYABLE alien ship!
We talk aboutWraith, an Okkar fighter that looks like a cross between a bat and a sushi knife. This beauty is not just pretty: it has a mechanic thatbreaks the foundations of combat. Every time you destroy an enemy, you absorb fragments of its energyto activate temporary abilities: from shields that regenerate like Wolverine cells to cannons that fire particle beamsas if they were galactic disco lasers. It is a shiphigh risk, high reward: If you are an ace pilot, you become unstoppable; If you crash into asteroids, you end up as floating junk.

But what really changes everything are thebattles against the Ancients. Forget those static confrontations oftitanswhere you repeated patterns like a trained parrot. Here the bosses aretouch beasts: one camouflages itself in nebulae to attack by surprise, another summons drones that you can only destroy with pure energy weapons, and there is one that... well, better not spoil it, but it involvesdodging tentacles of light while a planet explodes in the background.

Story: Angry Gods, Interstellar Politics and a Sarcastic Robot (as always)
¿Deben aliarse contigo?
Tal vez…

The Best (and the Not So Much): The Drivers' Verdict

Conclusion: Is the Trip worth it?
Wrath of the Ancientsestá disponible en PC, PS5 y Xbox Series X/S. Si no… ¿en qué galaxia perdida vives?
