In this section I have already commented on a large number of characters from Akira Toriyama (Araledragon boyAckmanKajikaPaifu and José Rodríguez) to try to show alternatives to Dragon Ball, his best-known work.

The character that I will comment on below could also be considered an alternative to Dragon Ball, although in reality he is part of that same saga and has even been reintroduced in the new adventures of Son Goku and company.

The space patrol has arrived

Jaco is an alien who belongs to the patrol corps that maintains peace in space. Although his general appearance is not particularly intimidating, because he is short (although he insists that he is quite tall for his species) and thin, he has enormous strength and is extremely agile and brave. He is also skilled in handling his gun and can even fly under his own power in case of emergency.

Jaco is extremely strong

As far as mental ability is concerned, Jaco is quite good with languages (he knows thousands of them) but he seems to be somewhat clumsy in other things (he barely knows how to pilot or fix his spaceship) and he is not exactly intelligent when it comes to making decisions, or rather, he is quite radical when it comes to making them based on a single example (on knowing that there are bad humans, he considered destroying the entire species).

Jaco considering exterminating humans

Although he has a high regard for himself (he keeps repeating that he is from the elite corps) Jaco is actually quite clumsy compared to the other galactic patrollers. What's more, the mission entrusted to him (preventing an alien from reaching Earth) is given to him only because that planet is insignificant and it matters little what happens to it.

Jaco and the humans

While heading to Earth to intercept the alien he had to stop, Jaco got lost and crashed into the Moon, so had to make an emergency landing on Earth to check the damage to your ship.

The chosen place was a lonely island, where he found Omori, an old scientist who dedicated his life to creating a time machine and who, at that time, lived completely alone and isolated from civilization. Despite the old man's somewhat sour character, he and Jaco became friends and tried to fix the galactic patrol ship without much luck. Having to live together, Jaco had the opportunity to accompany Omori to the city to buy supplies and thus discover a little more about human society (especially in a bad way).

Jaco with Tights and Omori

Although Omori warned Jaco not to do anything that would attract attention so as not to be discovered, he could not help but hit some vandals to save a girl, Tights, who shortly after joined the group of protagonists to try to help them fix the spaceship. Tights was Omori's counterpoint, as she is young, crazy and eager to meet people and live adventures, since she believes that this will help her be a successful writer.

Despite having studied humans and having knowledge about them, Jaco is not very familiar with the life or customs of our species. Everything seems foreign to him and he does not seem to have the ability to make complex judgments about the things he sees, so we could say that he simply classifies them as good or bad. On the other hand, he takes anything related to him extremely seriously, even if it is a minor detail like being 2 centimeters wrong in his height.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Jaco is a galactic patrolman, small in stature but big in pride, strength and desire to take action. It is true that he is a little clumsy and that he does not think too much about what he does, but at least he is passionate about his mission of maintaining peace in the universe, although apparently he is not the best suited for it.

He's a funny but pretty generic character., not only in the shonen genre but in the work of its own author. The manga where he debuted is easy to read and very much in the style of other works by Toriyama (don't expect anything surprising or new) and perhaps the most interesting thing is that This story is used as a prequel to dragon ball.

Jaco loves to present himself doing strange poses

Being a recent character, the recommendations are quite scarce, on the one hand his manga Jaco, Galactic Patroller (published in Spain by Planeta comic in Spanish and Catalan) and on the other hand its appearance in the animated series Dragon Ball Super.

Jaco is part of the universe dragon ball (as can be seen in his own history and in Dragon Ball Minus) so that it will surely continue to appear in anything new that is published in that series.
