[HorrorScience] Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)

This 2025 a new installment of the saga has been releasedjurassic park(eitherJurassic World) callJurassic WorldRebirth(Jurassic World ReborneitherJurassic World is reborn, in its Spanish translations).

This film would be the seventh in the sagajurassic parkand the fourth withJurassic Worldin the title and, taking into account that in the predecessor they "wasted all the bullets" bringing in actors from the first film and they didn't really know what to do with the dinosaurs by using insects as one of the main threats, the truth is that I was wondering what exactly they intended to do with a new sequel. And the fact is that, although a few years have passed, they have not been so many that one missesjurassic parkand this attracts the public en masse to see a new movie (as if it happened withJurassic World).

At the time I already commentedjurassic park(1993) andJurassic World(2015) so I feel under a certain obligation to comment on this new installment, which will begin a new stage in the franchise based on the books by Michael Crichton.

BecauseJurassic WorldRebirth is very recent,I don't want to explain anything that could be considered a spoiler., so I will give my opinion in a somewhat generalized way. Yes, to do itI have to comment on what happens in the movie, soIf you read this without having seen it before, I may spoil some surprises for you..

We begin by seeing a laboratory with decent safety and hygiene measures that are inexplicably absent, which causes a mutant dinosaur to escape, causing absolute chaos in the facilities.

A few years have passed since the end ofJurassic World Dominion,so we meeta world where dinosaurs were free(just as happened in the last films) but, due to the weather and diseases,only a few have been able to adaptand in very specific areas of the planet. Perhaps the most interesting thing is to see that people have already tired of dinosaurs, and they have almost no impact on the majority of people, who only see them as a threat and a nuisance in their daily lives.

a companypharmaceutical company tries to profit from the remaining dinosaurs, taking advantage of the fact that, due to their larger internal organs, elements that can create new medications can be extracted, with the incredible profits that this entails.

The plan is simple: you have to fly to the area where there are still large dinosaurs andtake blood samples from Mosasaur, Titanosaur and Quetzalcoatlus. To carry out this mission, they decide to hire Zora Bennett, a mercenary former CIA agent expert in covert actions, and paleontologist Henry Loomis, who does not agree with the mission, but agrees to go because he will be able to see dinosaurs in the wild. The rest of the team consists of Duncan, a ship captain, his sailors, and Martin Krebs, the executive representing the pharmaceutical company that pays for the mission.

Getting to the island, in addition to being illegal, is quite difficult, becauseOn the high seas the ship is attacked by a group of Spinosaurus and a Mosasaurus,which puts the crew in trouble, but also allows them to obtain the first sample. The same group of animals previously attacked the small boat of a family, who have to be rescued by Duncan's boat.

After suffering the attack of the dinosaursthe group is divided, on the one hand the rescued family and on the other, those who are going to fulfill the mission, who continue to quickly search for the remaining dinosaurs. Because they have lost the boat, the only way to leave the island is to stay there for a day, at which time a rescue helicopter that they hired will arrive in case contact is lost.  Both groups intend to reach an abandoned facility to have a better chance of surviving, which will give us more chances to see different dinosaurs in different parts of the island.

The main plot ofJurassic WorldRebirthIt is very basic. They haven't racked their brains to create something different (like, for example, something that happens in a city full of dinosaurs);They have resorted to the usual: A group travels to the island with dinosaurs and finds themselves trapped on it until they are rescued.

The protagonistsThey also fall into the generic category, because each one meets the topics you expect. The main group, with sailors, a soldier, the executive and the paleontologist is forgettable enough, but the family groupes además, muy innecesario. Además, el intento de desarrollo que tienen los personajes también es olvidable, incluso cuando intentan imitar recursos de otra película (como cuando la niña pequeña queda traumada y no puede hablar, al estiloThemeitherAliens el Regreso). El resultado es bastante desolador.

El número depersonajes poco interesantes es más alto de lo necesarioy, debido a ello, esta es una de esas películas donde si muriesen todos los personajes sería más satisfactorio que verlos sobrevivir. Como no puede ser de otro modo, hay un porcentaje de víctimas entre los personajes, pero es muy fácil ver quién tiene más papeletas de acabar mal.

A la hora de mostrar los dinosaurios, tenemos un primer acto donde los personajes están en alta mar, sobreviviendo a los ataques de los animales marinos. Sin llegar a ser excepcional,esta parte de la película me gustó mucho,pues no solo es un soplo de aire fresco dentro de la franquicia, si no que tiene algunos planos muy interesantes y hasta me atrevería a decir que tontea con la idea de emular aSharkde Steven Spielberg en algunos momentos.

Una vez los protagonistas llegan a tierra,se convierte en la típica película dejurassic park, donde varios grupos recorren la selva teniendo encontronazos con especias diversas (con mejor o peor suerte). He de admitir queme sorprende que hayan evitado usar demasiado a los Raptors y al Tiranosaurio, pues desde la primera película dejurassic park, son los dinosaurios más recurridos y, sinceramente, me aburre muchísimo que siempre recurran a ellos, pese a que hay otros dinosaurios que nunca han tenido protagonismo en la saga. En esta ocasión han optado por usar muy poco los Raptors y usar al Rex en una escena bastante larga, con cierta originalidad (al suceder en un río) y con un punto cómico involuntario debido a que parece que el pobre depredador no está en su mejor momento.

Las escenas con reptiles voladores no son muy llamativas (de hecho creo que se hizo mejor enJurassic Park 3), pero al menos sitúan a los protagonistas en situaciones extremas. La parte final de la película, es dondeaparecen los principales dinosaurios, que resultan ser mutantes, los cuales terminarán que haciendo el rol típico de los raptores (en el caso de los pequeños) y el del Tiranosaurio (el mutante grande).

En lo que respecta al diseño, el del mutante grande me recuerda al monstruo decloverfieldmezclado con dinosaurios, es deforme e incomodo de ver, así que me parece genial su aspecto. Los mutantes pequeños me provocan cierta risa involuntaria, ya que no tuvieron tanta suerte en la lotería genética. Hay quien critica que el director (Gareth Edwards) no muestre al mutante más peligroso hasta la parte final de la película, pero esto no debería sorprender a nadie, pues Edwars hizo lo mismo congodzilla(2014). Además,lo poco que lo muestra creo que es muy efectivoy logra un efecto terrorífico bastante bueno.

En resumidas cuentas,Jurassic World Rebirthes una apuesta cobardeque, pese a tener un lienzo interesante sobre el cual trabajar (dinosaurios viviendo en el mundo actual), recurre a cerrar totalmente esa puerta y volver a lo básico enviando un grupo de personas a una isla tropical donde hay dinosaurios.

Sin embargo,pese a su falta de innovación, es una película sorprendentemente entretenida, con algunas escenas muy interesantes a nivel visual, con un buen ritmo y un desarrollo algo previsible, pero no pesado ni insoportable y eso es mucho más de lo que se puede decir de algunas películas anteriores (como la decepcionanteJurassic World Dominion).

Si os gustan las películas dejurassic park(eitherJurassic World), podéis ver esta sin ningún tipo de problemas.Va a lo seguro pero se puede disfrutar.Aunque es cierto que, debido a su enfoque, no provocará ningún cambio dentro del universo deJurassic World,me parece que está más cerca de ser una película aceptable que una mala (dentro de la franquiciajurassic park).

Para finalizar, algunas curiosidades sobre la película.

• Scarlett Johanson siempre ha sido fan de Jurassic Park. Al parecer, insistió para aparecer en películas anteriores, aunque fuese solo para ser devorada por un dinosaurio.
• Los Raptors iban a tener un mayor protagonismo en la parte final deJurassic WorldRebirth, pero se decidió cambiarlos por mutantes.
• En el museo puede verse el cartel de «When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth» que aparecía en la primera película dejurassic park

• El personaje de Duncan iba a tener un final distinto, pero el director decidió cambiarlo durante el rodaje.
• En la película se puede ver un autobús con el nombre Crichton Middle School, nombre que se puso en homenaje al autor de los libros de Jurassic Park, Michael Crichton.
• Jonathan Bailey, además de interpretar al Doctor Loomis, también contribuyó tocando en la banda sonora.
• Los Spinosaurus son muy distintos al visto enJurassic Park 3(2001), debido a que nuevas investigaciones y teorías sugieren que tenía un aspecto y comportamiento distinto a lo que se creía por aquel entonces.
