To debut in Jugando a… I have chosen a title, which from my point of view marked a before and after in the video game industry during the last generation. As an unconditional lover of the cyberpunk genre it can be no other than Deus Ex Human Revolution.

To put those of you who are reading something about Deus Ex for the first time a little bit, I tell you that it is a fairly old franchise, made up of three games: Deus Ex (2000), Deus Ex Invisible War (2004) and Deus Ex Human Revolution (2011). The first two were developed by Ion Storm, while Human Revolution It was produced by the Eidos Montreal team and distributed by Square Enix.

After a failed approach that I made at the beginning of the year, I have finally completed the title in its entirety. I have to confess that obviously it didn't have the same impact on me as when I played the original, but I have renewed that passion for a title that encompasses everything that a good game should have.

Human Revolution It is a stealth title with role-playing and aesthetic overtones cyberpunk set in the year 2027. We will adopt the role of Adam Jensen, a former SWAT who currently works as head of security at Sarif Industries. A mega company that is responsible for creating and distributing a new augmentation technology, synthetic parts that are replaced by human ones, improving their effectiveness and performance. So far so good, the problem is that if, for example, you change your arm for a synthetic one, you will have to be hooked for your entire life to a substance called neuropocin which is one of the most expensive and addictive drugs in the world in Deus Ex. The worst thing is that if you don't take it, your body will reject the synthetic grafts. On the other hand, there are several companies that are dedicated to the issue of human augmentations, including Tai Yong Medical. If we add corporate wars, naturalist movements and radical anti-system groups that reject increases to the formula, we are left with a cocktail with guaranteed conflict.

This is the premise from which the title is based, which as you can see strictly complies with all the narrative elements that a good game of cyberpunk must have. But let's get to what's interesting, what does Human Revolution What makes it so good?

For me A very important element in this type of video game is immersion. I like to believe what I see, have the freedom to make decisions and do things my way. That's why games like Skyrim either fallout They are the ones that accumulate the most hours in my library. Steam. It is no coincidence that precisely these types of games are the ones that give the most freedom in terms of gameplay and decision making. Deus Ex perhaps it is somewhat more limited compared to those examples but overall it is a more refined product.

To begin with, it is a game that offers two very different styles of play. You can complete it Rambo style, destroying everything that moves, but you can also be more restrained and opt for a less violent resolution, stealth. In my case, I have always liked stealth games, my philosophy for completing the title is to equip myself with an electric gun, a tranquilizer dart rifle, gas grenades, and so on. Additionally, the game rewards this way of playing since completing a mission in this way will grant you the stealth and ghost extras, two rewards that together are many more experience points than you would get by killing everyone you meet along the way.

But without a doubt one of the coolest things in the game are the boosts. I don't like to abuse them, especially when you get invisibility, which I use occasionally, but the rest are very fun to use. In the game we can jump higher, run faster, break walls, see through them, mark enemies, hack terminals, in short a lot of possibilities that are also very useful for interacting with the scenario. Thanks to the increases we will be able to open paths or access them and find new access routes.

Deus Ex introduces an interesting novelty in terms of first-person games. It consists of alternating between first and third person, so that the general view will be subjective and when we stick to a wall we will see Adam's body against the wall. Although it may seem silly, it is something that I particularly consider to be a complete success. A first-person camera is more immersive, whenever we do anything it will be from Adam's point of view, while when it comes to infiltrating we will be able to see what surrounds us better, being able to locate the enemies and plan our escape route to cross without being seen.

Another very careful element is the documentation work.. The plot is not developed solely through videos and dialogues, There is a huge amount of information published through magazines, books, emails and notes. In the case of the magazines they narrate the events that happen during the plot, for example in the first mission you have to infiltrate a manufacturing factory. Sarif, during that mission you will be able to read about the incident and when you finish it you will be able to see what the media thinks about the resolution of that conflict. This information is not only useful to better understand what is happening, in the case of notes and emails it is also useful to obtain the password of a computer or terminal for which we do not have sufficient hacking skills.
