Searching through free games I found one calledDragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, which could be classified as the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) genre, one in which I am not at all familiar. However, I decided to give it a chance, not only because it had characters fromdragon ball, but also because I found it when it was taking its first steps or, in other words, in its first season. This would allow me to start without too much of a disadvantage compared to the average player and also see how I evolved as time went by.

They participate in that game2 teams of 4 players, each of them is assigned 4 gods of destructionthat are located in your area of ​​the map. The objective of the game iseliminate your rival's gods and get the Dragon Ballthat is in its territory, which will end the game automatically.

Placing yourself under your own god will make you recover life, but getting close to a god on the opposing team will cause you to suffer damage, so we can't go crazy, we have to wait for the right moment to attack. Once hostilities begin between the players, a pair of Zeno Sama will appear flying over the map, each one facing a different direction, so thatone god from each team will be scolded by Zeno Samaand that's when players can get under the god and press the attack buttons to damage him.

BecauseEach team will have a god punished at the same time, you have to organize to defend or attack,Well, if everyone decides to do the same, it is likely that they will not be able to harm the other god or that they will lose theirs in a matter of seconds. The usual thing is to split the team in two (since the map has two clearly separated paths) and for each pair to cover or attack the gods of the part where they are, but as we destroy gods, the barriers that separate both areas of the map will disappear and it will be more common for players to flow from one side to the other.

InDragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, the fights between both teams are atrocious.Depending on the character we have chosen, it is advisable to face them in one way or another, since sIf we are eliminated, we will be temporarily out of the game.The “punishment” time increases as the game progresses, so dying at the end of the game may mean losing half a minute, while dying at the beginning will suffer a punishment of just 5 seconds. Characters can level up by eliminating generic enemies that populate the map, thus gaining the experience necessary to unlock special attacks and the transformations of some characters. The fact that when we die we are taken out of the game for a few seconds, not only weakens our team, it also deprives us of gaining experience, so it is a double punishment.

From time to timeA boss will appear in a specific part of the map, which can attract all the attention of the teams, since defeating it has significant advantages, since it will automatically damage a God (even if it is not punished by Zeno Sama).If a team defeats three bosses, they will gain a noticeable increase in health and strength,which will tip the balance in your favor. The bosses are curious to say the least, because Jaco the galactic patrolman may appear, like Nappa, Android 16 or even Jackie Chun.

As you can imagine,organization is important inDragon Ball Gekishin Squadra,So we have some tools to try to achieve this, such as being able to choose a specific area and send an “attention” signal or even ask for help, or send attack or retreat messages. We can also use emoticons (which are Dragon Ball characters making strange faces) during the game, which can be communicative (for example, if we put the Senzu Bean icon, we are telling our partner that we are going to recover life) but are generally used for fun purposes (thanking someone who has helped you, making threatening faces before or during the game, or making sad faces if we have been defeated).

An average game lasts 10 minutes, although it may last less if one of the teams is much superior to the other or if one team gives up. If the game drags on too long, Zeno Sama's attacks will become faster and the gods will take more damage, which usually speeds up the end of the game.

After the game, each player will see their performance in the game, will be able to vote for the best on their team and will receive experience points, as well as the necessary bonuses if they have completed any of the missions (which are updated every week).These are quite simple to complete and by doing so they provide us with some type of reward(money, emoticons, capsules, etc.). Money (real or in-game) is used to buy capsules (which will give us more emoticons, colors for our character or exclusive animations for it), clothes or characters. If we play several times with a character, we will see that we can "improve" its three-dimensional model by leveling it up, which costs money (in-game or real), something that is merely aesthetic, but will also allow us to unlock characters, helpers, elements to customize our profile and other rewards.

Dragon Ball Gekishin SquadraIt is one of those games that requires entering a little each day to complete missions, receive gifts (every day they give us money or capsules just for entering) and participate in specific events (get money thanks to Mr Satan or Capsules thanks to Bulma or participate in events linked to a time of year where we can get customizable elements such as Christmas hats).

Even thoughEach game has two special conditions that are random(being able to rescue eliminated characters, add more elements in which to hide, make players stronger... etc.), yesWe play for a long time, it can get tiring.do the same thing over and over again. Fortunately there arealternative game modesthat help alleviate that feeling, but the experience gained in them does not count in our ranking, so there are fewer players than usual.

In addition to playing the main mode against the console (which is much easier than doing it against players and will therefore help us complete missions without suffering too much), we can also find the following modes that alternate.

Capture of Territories: On the map there are 3 areas represented with circles, which we have to stay for our team. To do this we must stand on top and keep it our color (something that will be interrupted if someone from the other team enters the area). In different parts of the stage there are capsules that summon robots (which will also change the color of the areas), so basically we have to go from one to another eliminating the rival and securing our areas. Each area of ​​our color will automatically add points and the team that reaches the established score wins.

Initially this was my favorite mode, because the games were short and the map was very simple, but with the updates they changed the map to a slightly more complex one, which helps to have more strategy (and penalizes certain characters, who in open terrain could be lethal).

Vegetable Battle: In this mode we have to get the maximum number of vegetables possible, trying to ensure that our snowman does not take them from us. All the ones we get automatically go to our warehouse, but it can be damaged and lose part of what is stored (something that the opposing team can take advantage of). This mode is quite chaotic and fun, because in the end it is about robbing your opponent while preventing them from robbing you and at the same time, trying not to die trying.

Búsqueda del tesoro: El modo más reciente y también mi favorito actualmente. En este modo nos encontraremos en lo que parece ser el castillo de Pilaf, en el cual se encuentran 3 cofres del tesoro escondidos. Uno de los equipos tendrá que recorrer el castillo evitando trampas y a los rivales, para buscar los cofres, mientras que el otro equipo (que sí sabe donde se encuentran los cofres) tendrá que defenderlos. Es un planteamiento simple, pero muy efectivo y se aleja bastante de los otros modos, ya que el equipo que busca los tesoros, tratará de evitar combates y así tener más posibilidades de encontrar los tesoros.

Espada Z:Este modo de juego es el más reciente, y básicamente consiste en llegar hacia la espada, agarrarla y llevarla hacia la meta. Si te derrotan, la espada se cae y otro jugador tendrá la oportunidad de llevársela. Es un modo ideal para partidas rápidas y caóticas.

Una de las cosasque más destaco de este juego es su plantilla de personajesy como está representado cada uno de ellos, ya que siendo un juego dedragon ball, lo que se espera es que haya un montón de Saiyans, así como cuatro o cinco versiones de Goku, Vegeta o sus fusiones, cosa que aquí sucede parcialmente, pero lo compensa con los otros personajes.

Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra incluye los personajes que son “obligatorios” (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Frieza…), algunos menos famosos pero igualmente queridos (Krilin, Trunks del futuro, Piccolo, los Androides 17 y 18) y personajes recientes para promocionar las nuevas series (Hit, Zamasu, Caulifla…) pero aun así,se ha tomado la molestia de añadir personajes poco habitualescomo Dabura, Bojack, Super Uub, Cooler o Baby.

La selección de personajes es extraña, pero funciona muy bien, pues incluso dentro de los personajes “obligatorios” han tomado decisiones poco habituales, como incluir a Gohan niño de la etapa de los Saiyans o a Frieza en su primera forma (acompañado por Dodoria y Zarbon), en lugar de incluir sus versiones más famosas (Gohan Super Saiyan 2 y Frieza en su última forma).

Debido a que el juego está en constante evolución,se van añadiendo personajes. Los últimos que han aparecido cuando escribo esto son Vegeta Super Saiyan 4, Broly, Gohan definitivo y Vegetto (y están a punto de llegar Bardock y Kefla) así que es cuestión de tiempo que veamos unos cuantos personajes “obligatorios” más. Sin embargo, eso no significa que dejen de añadir personajes extraños, lo cual sin duda enriquecerá la variedad del juego.

Los personajes deDragon Ball Gekishin Squadraestán divididos en 3 categorías(Daño, Tanque y Especialista) que definirán la formación de los equipos (en cada equipo hay dos personajes de Daño, un Tanque y un Especialista).

«Daño» es una categoría que se explica por sí misma, pues sonpersonajes centrados en ataque, que generalmente no son complicados de usar. En esta categoría encontramos personajes como Goku, Dabura, Super Uub, Androide 18, Bojack, Trunks, Broly o Kale.

«Tanque» es una categoría que representa a personajes con más resistencia física, lo cual está representado en el juego conla habilidad de recuperar parte de su barra de vida. En este categoría nos econtramos a personajes como Vegeta, Caulifla, Cooler, Cell o Zamasu.

«Especialista» es la categoría más extravagante, puesincluye personajes con habilidades específicas que pueden ser usadas para perjudicar al rival y también para ayudar a sus compañerosa salir de una situación difícil. Aquí encontraremos cosas como Boo (que cura a sus aliados y atrapa a sus rivales en trozos de su cuerpo gelatinoso) Krilin (capaz de cegar a sus rivales con el Taiyoken), Frieza (que puede usar a Dodoria y Zarbon para atacar pero también puede dejarlos vigilando zonas concretas del escenario mientras él va por libre) o Gotenks (que puede atrapar a los rivales mediante sus donuts cósmicos y usar fantasmas para atacar, ayudar o vigilar zonas del mapa).

Cada personaje dispone de un ataque normal (llamado acometida) y una serie de ataques especiales (que va obteniendo conforme sube de nivel). Tengo que admitir que estosrepresentan muy bien al personaje en mayor medida, así que, independientemente de la categoría a la que pertenezca, vale la pena echarle un vistazo a las particularidades del personaje, pues algunos tienen cosas únicas (como Dabura capaz de petrificar a los rivales o Baby, que puede poseer a los otros héroes durante un tiempo limitado).

Desde mi punto de vista, hay personajes mejores que otros (o tal vez debería decir que son más sencillos de usar), pero como el juego se va actualizando, de vez en cuandopotencian a los personajes más maltratados y a veces recortan a los poderosos, lo cual es muy necesario, ya que hay muchas ocasiones donde el equilibrio entre ellos parece no existir, siendo uno de los principales problemas, quelos personajes recién llegados parecen ser muy poderosos. Cada vez que hay algún cambio, nos llegará un mensaje especificando todo lo que se ha tocado (y algo de dinero de regalo).

Tras elegir personaje tambiénnos tocará seleccionar un ayudante, que podremos invocar de vez en cuando y que causará efectos específicos durante un tiempo limitado. El número de ayudantes también va aumentando conforme el juego se actualiza. Aquí encontramosuna selección incluso más variada que entre los luchadores, pues veremos personajes como el granjero que disparó a Raditz, el mono Burbujas, el Sargento Metallic (alias Terminator) de la Red Ribbon, Shu (el ninja que iba con Pilaf), Spopovicth, el hombre invisible cubierto de sangre e incluso el perro con bigote que era el Rey de la Tierra en la primera etapa de Dragon Ball. Durante la partida también se activarán unas cartas que nos darán ventajas concretas (más fuerza, que nuestra esquiva sea más eficiente…etc). Estas se pueden activar de manera automática o manual, a gusto del jugador.

Debido a que yo no soy jugador de otros MOBA, no puedo comparar a este juego con otros mucho más famosos, pero según he visto, parece queDragon Ball Gekishin Squadraes relativamentemás sencillo que los juegos del géneroconsagrados desde hace años. Este enfoque quizás sea para atraer a gente que solo pruebe el juego debido a la familiaridad de los personajes (como es mi caso).

Tras jugar bastante, he ido encontrando algunas pegas, que creo que vale la pena explicar.

La primera es que, muy de vez en cuando, el juego sufre algún error (que corrigen con cierta rapidez). Solo me ha pasado dos veces, pero al parecer ha sucedido más. En ocasiones se han reportado errores de control o visuales y a veces no se puede acceder al juego (por un error o por mantenimiento).

Durante la batalla pueden suceder cosas extrañas como que te eliminen de un solo ataque teniendo la vida completa y el mismo nivel que tu rival (puede ser debido a efectos de potenciación del personaje, pero no estoy seguro del todo). A veces también hay algunos fallos gráficos, como que, al ver la animación de remate, el personaje desaparezca.

Estos errores están generalmente controlados yse parchean con rapidez. Además, siempre envían un mensaje detallado sobre los cambios y de paso te regalan unas cápsulas y dinero, lo cual siempre viene bien.

También tenemos el hecho de quedragon ball Gekishin Squadratiene desbloqueables con dinero del juego (los Zeni) o con dinero real (diamantes). Muchas de ellas son estéticas (ropas alternativas), pero los luchadores a desbloquear también entran en esta categoría. Antiguamente,conseguir los luchadores sin pagar requería echarle muchas horasy conseguir mucho dinero. Era una tortura, pensada para que gastases dinero real.

Afortunadamente, tras el feedback recibido,el juego se ha actualizado y cambiado a mejoren casi todos los sentidos. Por ejemplo, ahora es muchísimo más fácil obtener dinero del juego, y también han decidido “regalar” los personajes que antiguamente eran tan difíciles de conseguir, simplemente cumpliendo una misión sencilla (jugar 10 veces). Estos dos cambios hacen del juego mucho más interesante yayudan mucho a los que no tienen tanto tiempo(y no quieren pagar con dinero real) a disfrutar del juego.

Si sois veteranos de juegos MOBA posiblemente no os sorprendaDragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, salvo que seáis fans acérrimos de la obra de Toriyama, pues el reclamo de los personajes dedragon ball(en todas sus etapas) creo que es clave para disfrutar de este juego, que por otro lado, nos ofrece partidas visualmente interesantes y muy coloridas, pero también requiere cierta insistencia para mejorar. En la actualidadacaba de lanzarse la temporada 3, lo cual nos traerá nuevos personajes, nuevos ayudantes y nuevos eventos.
