If we forget everything we know about Middle Earth and its characters, it is possible to enjoy the Amazon Prime series, which visually it is a spectacle. If we talk about the most technical aspect, it is where we must recognize that Prime The money has been spent, and very well: the artistic direction, the costumes, the photography…Everything worthy of a movie; but, unfortunately, the rest is not up to par. The Rings of Power It has lost the essence, the magic, everything that surrounded the elves and Middle Earth.

And not only in terms of the aura of the world, the plot, although entertaining, becomes predictable at times. The characters they don't even cause empathy (For an elf thousands of years old to behave like a spoiled teenager leaves a lot to be desired). Strange World

Disney has a problem with science fiction, and a very serious one. The studio that turned one hundred years old in 2023 has more than demonstrated that it knows what it is doing, but its thing is to dedicate itself to princesses and musicals; As for science fiction, it always falls.

Strange World It promises to be an adventure movie, and for the umpteenth time they give us a movie about parent-child problems where the adventures remain in the background, almost non-existent. Boring, flat characters, predictable…The film remains in a I want and I can't.

Furthermore, as Disney already announced it would do, Strange World brings us diversity As for ethnic minorities, only two characters are white, the rest vary between African Americans, Hindus, Latinos, Native Americans... Black panther. Wakanda Forever

for years Marvel nos ha acostumbrado a grandes películas, pero la fase 4 ha caído en picado, y Wakanda Forever se une como otro fiasco más a algunas de las películas y series de esta fase.

Tras la muerte de Chadwick Bosseman, Wakanda Forever debería traernos la nueva era de Black Panther. Pero no. A pesar de tener un inicio prometedor y emotivo hacia el actor, la película se queda en algo aburrido, lento y con una trama insulsa, a lo cual no ayuda que el metraje dure casi tres horas.

Los personajes no emocionan, ni se llega empatizar con ellos. Carecen de toda personalidad, hasta el punto de que te da igual quién es el malo o por qué es así. Por no hablar de la curiosa mezcla entre mayas, Atlantis y griegos, y el nulo diseño de su mundo.

En cuanto a lo visual, nada nuevo en Wakanda: sus naves, tecnología, armas… Nada que no hayamos visto antes, un derroche de CGI que podían haber empleado más en ciertos trajes nuevos que parecen sacados de los Power Rangers.

La película en sí es una muestra de poder femenino. Y esto empieza a cansar: que sí, que ya nos hemos enterado que las mujeres también son muy fuertes y pueden pelear igual o más que un hombre. Y harta de que, para dos personajes masculinos que aparecen, ambos sean unos peleles que no sirven para nada.

Además, vuelven a meter, igual que hicieron con The Eternals, the leyenda negra. Y resulta cuanto menos curioso que todo el diseño de arte recuerde más a una plantación de algodón.

Wakanda Forever no sólo es una de las peores películas que ha hecho Marvel, sino que ni siquiera su escena final se libra de ser tediosa e intrascendente.

Willow

A Disney se le acaban las ideas y tira de nostalgia para mantenernos enganchados. Recuerdo la película de Willow con mucho cariño, llena de aventuras y magia, y esperaba encontrar en la serie algo similar.

Willow (1988) nos contaba la historia de la malvada hechicera Bavmorda, la cual descubre que nacerá una niña que pondrá fin a su vil reinado. La niña recién nacida, Elora, acaba en manos de Willow que, junto a compañeros muy variopintos, lucharán por la paz en el reino. La serie continúa con la historia varios años después, con la reina regente Sorsha cuya hija, acompañada de Willow y una Elora adolescente, deberán hacer frente al mal que acecha al reino.

Esta nueva etapa promete trepidantes aventuras pero se termina haciendo aburrida y monótona. Los personajes, sin carisma, te da igual si viven o mueren. Hasta Willow ha perdido su esencia. De hecho, el personaje es inexistente.

Como acostumbraba a pasar en películas de esa época (por mucho que ahora nos hagan creer lo contrario), las mujeres eran fuertes y grandes líderes y es algo que intentan continuar en la serie pero, por desgracia, no está por ningún lado la fiereza de la general Sorsha. De hecho, Kit, su hija, se hace exasperante. Un intento de protagonista a la que acabas odiando cada vez más en cada capítulo.

Al igual que su predecesora, la serie intenta mezclar momentos de epicidad con humor, un humor que no consigue sacar ninguna sonrisa.

La serie en sí es una pérdida de tiempo. Las actuaciones son pésimas, los diálogos nulos, la música, el vestuario terroríficos… Quizás, por poner algo positivo, es que han usado algún que otro puppet en vez de CGI.

No es de extrañar que todo esto haya conseguido la cancelación de la serie tras su primera temporada.

Lightyear

Para todos aquellos que nos hemos criado con Toy Story (1995), desde que se anunció esta película teníamos un hype increíble. Quizá las expectativas eran demasiado altas.

La película entretiene, sí, pero no veo que esto pudiera convertirse en un fenómeno de masas y que Andy estuviera como loco por tener un juguete de Buzz Lightyear.

La primera media hora es perfecta: acción, emoción, una trama muy original… Sin embargo, a medida que avanza, se queda sin fuerza. Los secundarios intentan ser todo lo graciosos que pueden y solo el gato sería lo destacable. Escenas que no aportan nada y solo hacen que la película se alargue innecesariamente, terminan haciendo de Lightyear una película del montón.

Lightyear iba a ser la película del año de Pixar y se ha quedado en una peli que ves una tarde que no tienes nada mejor que hacer.
