Since I started playing graphic adventures point & click, being Monkey Island 3 the first game of the genre that I remember playing for hours and hours until finishing it, I have a special affection and predilection for this simple style of game, where just with the mouse pointer and a few clicks here and there you can embark on all kinds of stories, from those full of humor and pirates of Monkey Island to a whole new story of Back to the Future starring Marty MacFly and in 5 episodes.
Graphic adventures have stories of all genres, and as already mentioned Geyser in his analysis of Hamlet, it is a style of play that was mainstream on PC many years ago, and now despite the studies indies and his effort to give new life to almost abandoned genres seems that the point & click does not finish raising its head. This is also understandable if we analyze which style of play has had the most commercial success in recent years and we see that the shooter and the MMORPG top the sales collection charts, genres as different from graphic adventures as water is from a stone. And yes, I know that Telltale Games is doing a great job creating generally episodic graphic adventures of excellent quality that are profitable for the company, but even so the success of other genres in the video game is incomparably greater than that of mouse adventurers and reveals the change in the tastes of video gamers in general in addition to mainly marking a generational difference.

Samorost was created by Jakub Dvorský while he was a student of Graphic Design and Visual Communication at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, during the year 2003. It is a Flash game, to be played with the browser, and some friends of Jakub uploaded the game to their server, which soon collapsed due to the excess traffic generated by the enormous number of people who started playing it. Jakub would later found the development company Amanita Design and together with other talented artists would create games such as Botanicula and Machinarium which I will talk about another time.

The protagonist of Samorost is a gnome dressed in white pajamas and boots who lives on his own asteroid-planet, Kaioh-Sama style in Dragon Ball Z either The Little Prince of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, along with his brown dog. In the game you must interact with various elements on the stage to solve situations in the form of puzzles and thus enable the gnome to overcome the obstacles that get in the way of its progress. The puzzles are linked sequentially and together they make up the thread of the game's plot, which is summarized in trying to prevent another asteroid-planet from colliding with ours. Also in the game there is no inventory or dialogue, and solving puzzles mainly consists of clicking on various elements and in the correct order, giving rise to trial-error situations that will make you think about what exactly you should do and in what order to provoke what. Once you solve a puzzle by achieving the correct sequence of actions, the gnome can continue on its way to the next screen.
The aesthetics of the game are the highlight and are already a distinctive trademark of Amanita Design, with creative organic and surreal settings that mix artificial elements in natural landscapes usually created from photographs. A strange soundtrack is added to the visual aspect to finish creating a unique and original atmosphere.
The flaw of the game could be said to be its short duration, which although it depends a lot on your skill to overcome the puzzles, you will only be playing for a couple of hours to reach the end. In any case, this is understandable as it is a browser game, and it is also free so it should not be a reason for complaint.
Samorost can be played for free from this official link to the Amanita Design website.
Also, if you are interested in the soundtrack, it was not officially released but a fan dedicated himself to extracting the music tracks from the game and converting them to mp3 format, and got approval from Amanita Design to distribute these mp3 files for free through this link.
