Today I am going to talk about police inspector Mortenson, a character created by the Italian artist Marco Galli, who stars in a story that we could consider film noir, although it is seasoned by many strange and somewhat extravagant situations that give a personal touch to the comic.
Mortenson accompanies the reader throughout the story, so it seemed much more interesting to talk about him than the comic in which he stars: Oceania Boulevard.
The depressing life of the inspector
Mortenson is a veteran police inspector with gray hair, a thin mustache and a somewhat lanky appearance. Despite having been in his position for years He is not usually respected by his colleagues, who look at him superiorly for reasons as absurd as the fact that he doesn't have a driver's license (he usually travels by public transport) or that he is introverted and doesn't usually participate in their stupid conversations. In any case, the contempt is mutual, since Mortenson considers his companions to be stupid lazy people who are happy to be so, but due to their passive attitude, there are never usually confrontations between them.

Mortenson is a sensitive man and depression has lived with him for many years, despite consulting a specialist and taking medication, it does not seem that his life is going to abandon the gray tone that it usually has and that does nothing to improve the attitude of this pessimistic character, whose only refuge seems to be music.

Loss of sanity
Despite being reluctant to seek confrontation and always preferring to ignore provocations, Mortenson discovered himself facing the system for which he had worked, in order to discover the truth about the suicide of a famous artist.
For some reason, his superiors told him not to put his nose too much into the matter, that there were very influential people connected to the case. Furthermore, the partners and collaborators of the deceased did not seem very willing to collaborate in the investigation either, some because they knew too much and others because they knew nothing.

Everyone wants Mortenson to do exactly what he's told and that awakens the pride and bloodhound nose of this veteran inspector, who in addition to suffering a strong attraction for one of the witnesses, decides to follow his instinct (and the clues given by his hallucinations) to ask for unpleasant favors and even break the law, in order to solve the case. All of this causes this character's gray life to take a complete turn and causes the character to commit actions you would never have thought of doing, motivated to solve the case and prove his worth.
Conclusion and Recommendations
Mortenson is a somewhat strange character (although much less so than the rest of the characters with whom he shares a comic). His docile and timid character contrasts with his determination when it comes to finding the truth and his strange resources when it comes to tracking it down. His voluntary isolation from the world around him and his particular mental weakness make the character quite likeable, although they also cause a notable change in him, causing him to enter into a demented tone.

This character stars Oceania Boulevard by Marco Galli, an extremely strange comic that may even be unpleasant for more than one, but that will surely not leave anyone indifferent.
