No matter how many years pass, the fuse lit byJawsby Steven Spielberg never goes out, so taking advantage of the time, I am going to comment on another film where sharks play a leading role.

This time I will talk about an Australian and American film calledDangerous Animals(dangerous animalsin Spanish), which was released in the summer of 2025. I remember that I heard great things about it at the time, as it had quite favorable reviews, but I did not have the opportunity to see it until recently. Being a relatively recent film, I don't want to explain too much what happens, but you will understand that it is difficult to talk about the plot without ruining a small part of it.

Dangerous AnimalsIt begins by showing us a couple who decide to hire Tucker's services to enjoy the experience of seeing sharks on the high seas submerged in a cage. Tucker seems like a nice guy, he even tells them that he was attacked by a shark as a child and survived, and he doesn't hesitate to make the couple laugh when he notices they are especially tense before the dive. But that image disappears when he shows his true face, because he is a murderer who enjoys throwing people to the sharks.

After the introductory scene we meet our protagonist, Zephyr, a lonely young woman who travels with her van to look for places to surf. After “buying” an ice cream in a store he meets Moses, with whom he ends up becoming friends. Unfortunately for Moses, Zephyr prefers to travel alone and sets off for a new surf area.

Bad luck causes Zephyr to meet Tucker, who does not hesitate to kidnap her and leave her chained on his boat, along with another victim, whom he will feed to the sharks while Zephyr watches, while recording everything on video.

Moses tries to contact Zephyr, but he doesn't answer his phone. After that, you will see your van being towed by the tow truck, as it is abandoned on the beach. Aware that something bad has happened, Moses will try to find the whereabouts of Zephyr, who is doing everything possible to survive her particular torture, looking for every possibility to escape her captivity, since Tucker has told her that that same night she will be handed over to the sharks.

Dangerous AnimalsIt has some good things, because to begin with, despite being a movie about sharks, they are actually represented as what they are, predatory animals, not as serial killers. In fact, one of the movie's taglines was “you'd be safer in the water,” making it clear that the real monster is Tucker, who is completely crazy and deranged.

Zephyr is a victim, but he never stops conveying that he is going to do absolutely everything in his power to free himself, and if possible, get revenge, which keeps the film afloat. And it must be admitted that despite the original idea and the short duration, there are moments where the film feels slow and heavy, come on, it's hard not to get distracted thinking about something else and I suppose that's because once you've seen what it's about, you want to see the conclusion, instead of watching scenes of Moses searching for Zephyr, which cut into the tense moment of the film.

Dangerous Animals is entertaining, ideal for horror fans who also have a certain weakness for shark movies, perhaps they will be the ones who most enjoy Zephyr's fight against crazy Tucker.
