The development, which may reminda mix betweenGhouls 'n GhostseitherShinobi, includes a good selection of typical enemies from Egyptian mythology. We will find mummies, giant beetles, poisonous snakes or coconut-throwing monkeys. But the best comes at the end of each level. Over thereA tough end-of-phase boss awaits us, like a purple guy who looks like Karnov, a pretty big skeleton warrior, or a really badass octopus. In the end,we will face Osiris, the evil god who has our girl.

Very well spun and finished,Big Karnakit's an arcadesomething shortbut it is very enjoyable from start to finish. It has very good moments andIt is very replayable, especially in its option for two simultaneous players. With it, fun is more than guaranteed.

Big KarnakHe is the only one of this selection that does not need to be emulated, sinceIt is included in one of the Gaelco packs for the Evercade console. Even so, at the time, it would have been nice if a computer or console had hosted it, but Gaelco did not launch any game on the domestic market until its polygonal games stage likeRadikal Bikers. And it's a shame because on the Super Nintendo or Mega Drive it would have been unpainted.

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs

Here is the bloodiest case on this list. Neither the comic nor the animated series are known, at least in Spain, butCadillacs and DinosaursHe is one of the greatest references of the "me against the neighborhood"of arcade games, and it's all the fault of Capcom, who released it in 1993.

The adventures ofJack, Hannah, Mustapha and Messon a planet Earth made of foxes and withdinosaurs swarming on the surfaceThey are very worth it. And they deserve it, thanks to a very polished gameplay, a graphic section that takes the hiccups and a dose of fun in its mode for three players that is from another world. Come on, whatCadillacs and Dinosaurs it's a wonderof those that do not remain.

The point is thatCapcom acquired the license for the arcade game. We assume that this license was only valid for that format, hence it did not appear on any domestic system. The problem is that the Japanese company has released the odd compilation of their best beat 'em up, but no trace ofCadillacs and Dinosaurs, perhaps because they no longer have the license. The same thing happened with the also monumentalAlien vs. predator.

However there is aCadillacs and Dinosaurswhich came out on Mega CD, but don't get your hopes up. His name isCadillacs and Dinosaurs: The Second Cataclysmy fue creado por Rocket Science Games (sí, esa empresa para la que trabajó Elon Musk), perono tiene absolutamente nada que ver con la recreativa. En fin, siempre nos quedará MAME.

Por cierto, alguien está desarrollando un port para Mega Drive que tiene muy buena pinta.

Heavy Smash

Esto ya es a nivel personal. Junto aSoccer Brawl,Heavy Smashes uno de mis juegos deportivos futuristas favoritos. Y todo se lo debemos a Data East, que nos obsequió en 1993 conun juego de balonmano bastante cafrey con unas dosis de diversión altísimas.

Un puñado de selecciones nacionales nos esperan en este juego, cada una conunos valores determinados de ataque, defensa y fuerza. Hay casos curiosos como la selección australiana, formada por amazonas, o una selección especial en la que participan un conjunto de cíborgs.

Lo mejor que tieneHeavy Smashes su apartado jugable. El control es buenísimo y muy fácil de aprender, con posibilidad deejecutar poderosos ataquespara hincharnos a marcar goles en los primeros compases del torneo. Todo con una ambientación genial yuna opción para dos jugadores inolvidable.

De nuevo, consolas como Super Nintendo o Mega Drive se hubieran prestado muy bien para acoger aHeavy Smash, peroa Data East no le interesó lo más mínimo portarloa ningún sistema doméstico. Y es una lástima porque, como os digo,es un título entretenidísimocon el que pasar muy buenos ratos.

Mystic Warriors

No hay duda de queSunset Riders, un juego que llegó a lanzarse a Super Nintendo y Mega Drive, es uno de los mejores títulos que Konami parió en los años 90. Pero, ¿qué pasa conMystic Warriors? Podríamos decir queMystic Warriors, también de Konami, es algo así comoaSunset Ridersmás moderno y con ninjas, pero sería injusto.

Esta pequeña joya, que también data de 1993, esun run and gunen el que tenemos acinco poderosos guerrerosa nuestra disposición. Spyros, Brad, Keima, Kojiro y Yuri tendrán que hacer frente a la compañía Skull, que secuestrará a uno de nuestros amigos aleatoriamente y nuestro deber será rescatarlo.

Y a lo largo de una serie de niveles,enMystic Warriorsnos podremos a lanzar estrellas ninja como locospara frenar a nuestros enemigos. Alcanzaremos el final de cada nivel, dondenos esperará el temible jefe de fin de fase. Todo desarrollado en una época presente, pero con todo el sabor de los ninjas y los guerreros del antiguo Japón feudal. Muy bueno.

¿El problema? Quefue un juego que pasó muy de tapadilloy no fue el pelotazo que sí fueSunset Ridersal que, por cierto,Mystic Warriorshace un guiño en el primer nivel.  Y es una pena que Konami no lo trasladara a ningún sistema doméstico, ya que ofrece una buena variedad de escenarios y enemigos y momentos muy divertidos. Y con opción para cuatro jugadores simultáneos.

Segasonic the Hedgehog

El último que os ofrecemos en esta selección esuno de los poquísimos juegos de Sonic que no salieron en consolas. Se llamaSegaSonic the Hedgehog, de Sega y también de 1993, perono es el típico juego de plataformasal que nos tiene acostumbrado el erizo azul más famoso de los videojuegos.

Sonic, junto a sus amigosMighty(un armadillo) yRay(una ardilla), es secuestrado por Eggman y llevado auna fortaleza plagada de trampasde la que tendremos que escapar. Para ello nos lanzaremos a toda pastilla por los mapeados del juego, huyendo de todas las artimañas que Eggman utilizará para detenernos. Todo esto en un juego conun desarrollo muy frenético.

La característica más llamativa deesteSegaSonic the Hedgehoges el sistema de control. El mueble de la recreativa originallleva un trackpadpara mover a nuestro personaje por el mapeado, que se traduce en una especie de circuito de obstáculos del que tenemos que salir airosos. Esto, con ayuda de un par de botones para saltar y correr, lo convierten enuno de los juegos de Sonic más atípicos que existen. Quizá por esto último fue por lo que no se adaptó a ninguna consola de Sega.

Evidentemente, emular este juego no le hace justicia, más si tenemos en cuenta el control tan específico que tiene. Y vosotros, ¿habéis llegado a verlo en algún salón recreativo?
