I recognize it. I'm a bit of a fetishist when it comes to failed products. In a way I feel admiration for consoles that did not succeed, computers that crashed or video games that were not what was expected. It's something like with horror movies, the more scared we are, the more we like them.
Well, today we wanted to pay tribute to some of what are considered the worst games in history. We will talk about certain video games that were not successful, especially because of their general quality and, well, although it is ugly to say it, basically because they are bad, very bad. Here are five of the worst video games in history.
Big Rigs
![[Very Top] Five of the worst video games in history](https://combogamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/bigrigs_pc.jpg)
We start withBig Rigs,a truck racing gamecreated by Stellar Stone and released in 2003 for PC computers. At first glance we see thatBig Rigs It is nothing striking for a game released in 2003, since everything seems to be a game that came as a gift with the cereals or cookies. We are going to forgive him that lack of ambition, there is no problem, but what we do not forgive him isbe the most buggy video game of all time(yes, more thanGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy).
Games released in haste, loaded with bugs and unfinished aspects are often criticized. Thus, examples such asCyberpunk 2077or many of the Bethesda games (fallout,Oblivion, etc.), games that usually correct these errors with online patches. But for a game from 2003 that is not possible, and even less so for a release likeBig Rigs.
As soon as we approach the controls we realize thatthe game is broken, very broken, everywhere. Vehicles that cross mountains, go under bridges or rivals with non-existent AI are some of the niceties ofBig Rigs. Ok, we continue saying that it is a game without great technical or playable features, but it could also have been polished a little more.
Of course, we must recognize the comic value ofBig Rigs. Lots of reviews, videos and comments have been published "praising" its virtues, making the game's popularity skyrocket, even though it is one of the worst games of all time. Seriously, it's worth seeing, because playing, what is called playing, is played little and badly.
Bubsy 3D
![[Very Top] Five of the worst video games in history](https://combogamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/bubsy3d_ps.jpg)
During the 90s everyone wanted to have their own video game mascot.Bubsy, a kind of space cat with a t-shirt, but no pants, was a good example, being the mascot of the famous company Accolade. After releasing a couple of decent games for the Super Nintendo and Mega Drive, Bubsy tried his luck on more modern systems, such as the ill-fated Atari Jaguar and, the one in question,Bubsy 3Dfor PlayStation.
The guys from Eidetic, with the production of Accolade, launched the game in 1996 for the great gray Sony console. They did not sin of ambition, becauseBubsy 3Dwas born to compete with nothing more and nothing less thanSuper Mario 64. Did the game point out ways to compete with such a brown beast from Nintendo? No way.
Bubsy 3DIt's absolute chaos in every way.. If we don't take into account its crude and flat graphics, with empty settings and ugly, poorly animated characters, we might think that it is at least fun, but it isn't either. The control is horrible, making jumping a real ordeal as there is not even a hint of precision. Furthermore, on many occasions, most of us, we will not know very well what our objectives are.
Such nonsense could only cause the disappearance of the character, in addition to giving a good economic blow to the mythical Accolade. By the way, in case you think that afterBubsy 3DThis furry cat disappeared completely, so you know that in 2017 it returned without anyone asking, but hey, that's another story.
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
![[Very Top] Five of the worst video games in history](https://combogamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/ettheextraterrestrial_2600.png)
Crossed out by many as simplythe worst video game in history,E.T. The Extra-Terrestrialfor Atari 2600It has always been surrounded by controversy and urban legends. Atari itself launched the game in 1982 after having spent a fortune to get the exclusive for Steven Spielberg's legendary film. Of course, the Christmas campaign was there, so the game had to be ready for that moment, and it was.
What happened?E.T. The Extra-TerrestrialIt was done in a hurry, in a hurry., leaving a game with a very strange approach, dull gameplay and a horrible technical section even for the Atari 2600.This caused people to return the game because they didn't like it., causing the ruin of Atari and the famous video game crisis of 1983. Almost nothing.
At that time there was an urban legend that said thatremaining copies of the cartridgeE.T. The Extra-TerrestrialThey were buried in the New Mexico desert. Years later, in 2014, it was proven that the legend was true and an excavation was carried out in search of the lost cartridges. The lost cartridges were there, as well as other games from the Atari console.
Superman 64
![[Very Top] Five of the worst video games in history](https://combogamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/superman_n64.jpg)
Horrible.
Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon/Link: The Faces of Evil
![[Very Top] Five of the worst video games in history](https://combogamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/zeldawandofgamelon_cdi.jpg)
